I post when I want to post.

Ok, not really. I's just becuase I am lazy. But I have found that my post are usually pretty random, but if there is or are themes, they generally circle two things. 1) Coffee and 2) My lack of blogging. Today's I'm sticking, mostly, to item number one.

I'm at a new coffee shop (at least new for me), Presto, in downtown wilmington. It's a really nice spot. Good lighing, lots of board games and huge coffee mugs. I like drinking out of a coffee mug, but the biggest downside is that the coffee gets cold faster. The upside ... I'm not sure. I guess I think that if you have a mug, you are entitled to free refills. I do remember Jame's mom warming up her coffee mugs first with warm water. I think that is a great idea. So this place has games, to bad I'm here by myself or I'd be all over Battleship.

Anyhow, I'm just writhing becuase I am putting off doing work. There seem to be a lot of little items to do and work on and I'm not sure where to start. That is why I'm getting myself organized and making to-do lists. Biggest to do item for the week. Go to Michigan. Although I did recieve a very tempting invite to go Paris for the weekend, I have made plans and am really looking forward to my weekend back in Saginaw. So look out Michigan - here I come.

The comments are gone, but the coffee is here to stay ... hopefully.

Ok, so I changed my commenting format. I am now using the blogger version instead of the ancient Haloscan service. I must say thank you to Miguel who let me use Haloscan for years ... but it was time for the upgrade.

Now, to elaborate on the coffee situation from last post. Yes, unlimited coffee is a good thing. Especially having the choice of over 12 single brewed 8oz flavored packs. I generally start with the traditional blend in the morning and progress towards a slightly darker roast, french vanilla in the afternoon. Honestly, it is great and I probably have saved a ton of money. The only problem .... well now I don't suffer for my coffee like I used to. Therefore my appreciation for coffee shop coffee has definitely gone down ... not sure what this will do to me in the long run ... but I am on the lookout. Ha!

Happy to Say

It has been over two month now, no no, not since my last post. Since I left my previous employer, whose name rhymes with Bluepont, to join my new employee whose name rhymes with Smarclays. They say it is wise to post more annonomosly. I'm not sure I'd ever post something brash or anything that would offend past or current co-workers, but nevertheless, I'll air on the side of caution. Anyways, the past two months have been great. I seriously and thoroughly enjoy my new job. The people are great, the work is exciting and I am starting to feel more like my old self again. Which is a good thing! Although I am in cube city, a huge change from my luscious office and no longer have a laptop, the new office building is spectacular. My cube offers a great view of the river and I am only 100 feet away from unlimited flavored coffee. Life is good. So look out people, I'm on a roll.

What did I say!

Last night was my first night of class. I am taking my captone class, a computer simulation created by www.capsim.com. I did something similar in undergrad, but this one seems far more robust, complicated and realistic. Essentially we run a company for "eight years" and compete in the sensor market - technology with five differentiated products. I am very excited. But before class was also ran to the Hispanic Heritage month kick-off. I was asked to say a few words as a grad-student at the University. Not sure what I said ... to be honest, I was sort of caught off guard. I thought I was going to sit on a panel and be asked questions. But when the time came and I was introduced, I had to go to a podium and say "A few words". Will I'm sure it is good to say ... that I made no sense at all. I was like ... "um.... I like school". Ok, it probably wasn't that bad, but it sure felt like it. So much for looking like a leader!

Anyways ... the semester has started! Yea!

Meatballs and Turducken

Start preparing for thanksgiving, "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken". Today, at work, we started off the morning with a great morning potluck, which somehow snowballed into a conversion on a previous work potluck meatball eating competition. Why haven't I been working here earlier. This is great stuff, I mean, I am somewhat small indivdual, but I can eat. I don't always eat a lot in one sitting, but I can do repititions. Anyways, I threw in my knowledge of Turducken, and it reminded me of the magical foods of holidays. A bird, within a bird, within a bird, slow roates with sausage filling and bacon on top. What a combination! If turducken is not speciall enough, I also recomment Osturduckencorpheail. What could be better than adding two more birds, game hen and pheasant. Bon appetit!

Perspectives

Not only did Revlon (NYSE:REV) drop to 1.09 at quarter to five in after-hours trading today, but also my mood dropped at about the same time. I think I am having a hard time sharing my personal perspectives with people. The way that I percieve the world and it's interactions must be different. Not to be specific at all, but this is causing miscommunications. I think I need to stand back a little and learn how to listen better and view situations from other perspectives. I'm more writing this as an open reminder, but feel free to comment. Also, I am not recommending to buy Revlon until it hit 1.04. That's my stock pick of the week.

Wow

I know, I know ... I can't explaing my lack of blogging. I really can't. I often want to, I'm frequently told to do so, but in the end it becomes an infrequent exercise. Well, today I write. I write about my new job, at Barclay bank as a project manager. Today is my third day. I'm writing at lunch ... don't worry, I'm not lazing on the job. It's strange for me to be working at another company. When I moved to Wilmington it was for DuPont. Most of my friends work at DuPont. I have grown to know the east coast and its business enviroment through DuPont. Now that that has changed, I am going to have to adjust. Which I know will be good for me and since it is a change I have wanted to do for some time now, I know I will ultimately be happier. The work enviroment is so great and different from my last job. So, wish me luck ... I may need it.

Ciao

What's the Buzz?

So what's the buzz around Centellasville, or more commonly know as apt. 208 at the 1401. Nothing much, really, my group presentations, which as basically my exams, are both due next week. I really learned a lot this semester. I think this was one of my more productive semesters ... so look out.

On the other hand, I have begun to get more involved in campus. The latest news is about a party some students had on campus that was pretty racially charged .. see the link below. This issue actually made pretty big news, at least on a regional basis.

http://www.campuslaraza.org/racism.html

I am very proud of all the student I work with at La Raza who worked with faculty and the students to use this event as a way to promote social justice.

What else? Well, sadly, I haven't been mentoring at the LACC as much I would like to. I am just exhausted .. with school, fraternity, work and other things that pop up .. I just don't have the energy. Plus my last two students stopped going to the center. It's hard to lose a student you have worked with for 2 yrs. Anywho, off to a group meeting. Ciao.

Weekend woes

The weekend is on .... no work ... no school ... no commitments? Nope. The weekends are becoming more and more like the busiest days of the week. School, work, errands, conferences ... you name it. I'm sitting here on my computer ... trying how to prioritize work for the weekend. While Mona walks around my chair wishing I would sit down on the couch and watch TV with her... all I can do is think about what I need to get on Saturday so that Sunday can be the "get ready" for the week day. Semper.

Frozen memories and Birds flying

Somehow times escaped me again. The faster times begins to fly, the more I look back and wish I could remember what I've done. But so much has happened over the last few months that I rather just write and let some of it out. The passing of my grandmother was difficult and I thank Sam for going with me. Miguel and Sam captured some beautiful words, I recommend reading them. I wasn't able to write, somehow, I just couldn't. School has been busy and work is getting more and more hectic with sometimes no reprieve in sight. But as I was driving, last week, on NPR I heard a commentary by Terry Gross "Fresh Air". She was doing a followup story on Mr. Debaggio, somehow his words as an elderly person, struggling in the last years of his with life with Alzheimer's hit me hard.... I thought they summed up a lot of the feelings we all have ... but we somehow loose the ability to speak them.

"Now that I have skinned the tree, whistled a dirge for friends gone, waggled a finger in disgust and anger, it is time to be silent and wait for the next tear to fall. This is the way the world ends, with clouds of spit ringing your mouth and stuttering screams of helplessness, as it was in the beginning. Go on. Keep going on. Struggle to stay alive, even as the dark night falls with angry shouts and burning tears", Tom DeBaggio

I honestly feel a lot better, April came and is moving quickly. I'm looking forward to lots of things this summer. Conferences, visits from my parents and friends, and of course ... summer time ... beaches and trips to NYC.
