Camus, where did your France go?

01.28.2003

I didn't perform jury duty today. Apparently, I misread the summons. I report for jury duty 11 February. So I woke up at 7:45am for nothing. At least my cats were fed promptly at 8.

The rumor mill was correct about Apple. They just launched new faster G4 towers and a 20-inch flat display. And only weeks after a Macworld Expo, too!

Oh, Camus! Where is the France you dreamed about?

Instapundit linked to reports of possible French interference w/ UN weapons inspection in Iraq (including accusations of tipping off Iraq about when sites would be inspected). The report originated from a Fox News Channel interview w/ former arms inspector Bill Tierney who gave an alleged French agent (who was also caught rifling through desks) false information to see if it reached the Iraqis. BTW, Tierney is the arms inspector later accused by the Iraqis of being an American spy. Most of that interview was posted on NewsMax.

Of course, Fox News is slightly more right-of-center than most news networks. So take the above information w/ a healthy dose of skepticism. Nevertheless, it's consistent w/ long-standing rumors of French and German complicity in Iraq's weapons development programs.

Oh, and be sure to watch Bush's state-of-the-union address. Whatever you think about Bush, this is going to be important.
