No jury for me

02.11.2003

My first day of jury duty was a bust. I wasn't called in for any cases, so I used the time to grade exams (ironically, on American judicial process). The jury pool was released around noon, so I walked to The Space for a glazed donut and coffee lunch.

I stopped at Retro along the way, browsing for furniture. Since I'm staying in Kalamazoo until September (or late August), I figure I might as well furnish my apartment. If you know me, you know that I'm very particular. I'm looking for Scandinavian furniture (preferably Danish), specifically a small couch or love seat (preferably black leather) and an entertainment stand. If you have any leads, do let me know.

I'm not off the hook for jury duty. Apparently, it's a week-long affair. I have to call in every evening (until Thursday evening) to see if I need to serve on a jury. The fine print states that I have to serve a week or a trial, whichever is longer. Maybe I'll get lucky and have a crazy trial that forces me to be sequestered at a fancy five star hotel w/ room service and jacuzzis. Wouldn't that be something? But ... who'd watch Annie and Sophie?!
