Guilty pleasures

02.11.2003

Dan, Dave, Nate, and I were playing Risk at The Space before going to watch The Shield. And then, bam! A snowstorm erupted and sent us scrambling for cover. We got 4-8 inches w/in an hour and winds over 35mph. Wow. It's settled down to a "mild" blizzard now.

We ended up hunkering down at The Parkmont rather than going to the Upson-Wagner estate for the Tuesday TV watching. Nevertheless, The Shield was amazing. Vic Makey is one tough ass, fearless, brutally efficient, rogue cop. It deserves all the Emmy nominations and accolades.

I know it probably sounds like I'm a TV hound. And, to be fair, I watch much more TV now than I used to. It's a bad domino effect: I got cable for the high speed internet (replacing DSL). And since I'm paying for cable, I might as well get a TV ... since I have a TV, I might as well get furniture ... it's really putting a strain on my minimalist aesthetic.

I only follow two shows religiously (w/ the exception of amazing History Channel specials). Sunday is Simpsons since, well, since forever. Tuesday night is The Shield. Monday's Joe Millionaire is just a temporary diversion. For me, TV watching is a social event.

Nate as in Nathan? I hope so.
No one has ever delivered to me any specifics insights/highlights on the new season of the Shield. I might be reduced to writing Shield fan-fic pretty soon.
Blizzards are exciting.
DSL will ensnare all.
