The Wall Street Journal published an opinion piece by Khidhir Hamza, a recent Iraqi defector. Hamza previously worked on Iraq's nuclear weapons program. He implicates France, Germany, and Russia for selling — and continuing to sell — illicit material to Hussein's government. He argues that that's the main reason those countries oppose US involvement. Take it with a grain of salt, sure, but there's been long-standing evidence of illicit arms sales to Iraq from certain European countries — perhaps in exchange for oil?

Only European countries, huh?

Not sure what you mean by that. If you mean to bring up that the US sold weapons to Iraq before 1990 -- yes, it did. Was it morally questionable? Of course it was. Was it illegal? Not really.

However, France, Germany, and Russia have continued to sell Iraq weapons material since 1990. Including 380 missile engines for the Al Samoud 2 missile -- which the UN declared illegal for Iraq to build (their primary purpose is to hit Israeli cities). Selling weapons material to Iraq after 1990 was not only morally questionable (or, rather, immoral) but also illegal.

Be careful spreading this info around- its the kind of talk that has been known to start ww3.

If true- it does implicate europe with a not-so subtle sense of anti-semitism.
