An American in London

03.21.2003

My good friend J. Edmund - an expat American in London - attended an anti-war protest. He was amused by the whole spectacle (especially the chanting). Here's an excerpt:

"Bush and Hitler are the same, The only difference is the name" I thought about asking for the specifics ... Maybe ... "I see few similarities, Could you try to explain this, please" I don't think they were in the mood for an open dialog though, even in the genre of chant-off ... seeing as how it was a mother encouraging a gaggle of children. With police blocking off a lot of the streets it took a while to find my way out. While I was looking, I passed a woman with a mega-phone (another problem with Brit rabble rousing is the sucky mega-phones) trying to politely inform the crowd they might want to know that the defense department also commits many attrocities on animals. And that they say they are trying to oppose the attrocities of Saddam, but they commit many on animals. And "Don't look down your nose at animals just because they are lower than you." Good point lady.
