Warblogging on CNN

04.02.2003

I was watching CNN, primarily because the Battle of Baghdad just began. But CNN decided to run a story on blogging and how it's a real factor in this war.

Their feature focused on Jeff Jarvis' Buzz Machine. They also briefly spotlighted Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish and, of course, Glen Reynold's Instapundit. The night CNN anchor then interviewed Reynolds, who cited several blogs, including Command Post.

Is CNN finally "getting it"? Will they let Kevin Sites start up his blog again? Sites is a CNN reporter in Kurdish-controlled Iraq; CNN ordered him to stop blogging once the war began.

BTW, The Guardian has printed a large chunk of Salam Pax's posts. Note the ones where he reports on the "human shields".

Oh, and I'm back to getting a signficant ammount of my TV war coverage from Comedy Central's The Daily Show. Tonight's "Fisking" of Geraldo Rivera by Stephen Colbert was brilliant. As Jon Stewart pointed out, Geraldo is now one of only four people asked by the US military to leave Iraq. The other three are Hussein and his two sons (ouch!).

Oh man- I was going to call you and I forgot (sorry) on Saturday they had a story about Salam Pax & other bloggers on NPR.

Why do they call it a blog and is a live journal account a blog? It's not an offical blog acount, but is similar. How much more complicated is a blog account? Is there a lot of coding needed? I'd love to make my account more a=of a forum & have links posted.
