And so it begins

Moped Army BBQ weekend is now in full effect. Yesterday afternoon we got a phone call; Tim from the Mosquito Fleet branch of the Moped Army arrived at the train station and needed to be picked up. He was the first out-of-towner to show up. We got him on a moped and went out for food.

After much waiting (why do we always hurry up and wait?), we ended up at The Corner Bar on E Vine. I'd always heard about it, but never went (I'm not much into bars). I was blow away. This is what Bennigan's desperately tries to look like. A real homey bar w/ lots of old-timey stuff on the walls. And Dave was right, their burgers were amazing. Classic midwestern Americana at its best.

Later, we rode around much of Kalamazoo, ending up at WMU's Tech Research Park. Site of Sunday night's relay race. Notice the yellow loop — complete w/ bridge and everything. 1.6 miles of Grand Prix action.

We ran a few trial heats. And. Team Minarelli is the team to beat. More to the point, my lovely Bianchi-Snark is the bike to beat. Should be a fun race.

This morning, a van of Mosquito Fleet showed up along w/ Brandon from Janus. For the record, the Mosquito Fleet is from Seattle and Janus is from Sioux Falls. So they came a long distance. More out-of-towners (from as far away as New York City, Arizona, and Cincinnati) are still en route. Should be a fun weekend.
