I've no idea why this hasn't gotten more attention. Ok, to be fair, I've got a pretty good idea. But someone conducted a survey of Iraqis about their post-war attitudes.

This survey is kind of hopeful. However it can be read in many ways. Most think the war was right.
Many prefer a liberal democracy. Few want Saddam back. Many have high hopes for their lives to be better in the near future.

On the other hand: Many think that their lives right now are not better. Many want power to be given to the Iraqis right away. And many people are undecided on important issues. For example: 50% are undecided whether to feel friendly or hostile to the occupying troops.

A tough task lies ahead. Because the high hopes can easily be disappointed. Like, if power is not handed over right away, who knows how the next survey will look like?

And yet, if power is handed over right away, who knows how the next Iraqi government will look like? (Tip: The smart money's on "The Return of Saddam.")
