Those are aguayos. Not really blankets (and not scarves). They're often used as tablecloths or to adorn parts of a house. Traditionally, they're used to carry things. Cholitas pile things in them (even babies) and then wrap the ends around, tie a knot around their neck, and carry things around. The larger ones are rugs.
