Happy birthday

03.18.2004

Today's the anniversary of the launching of the blogzine Command Post. It's the best source for "war on terror" news, news on hotspots in the world (Iran, North Korea, etc.), and related news. It regularly beats CNN, BBC, New York Times, Washington Post, and so many others by hours (if not more). And it's just a large group of volunteer bloggers from around the world. Welcome to the future of news.

UPDATE: Here's the link from TCP itself, w/ a little history of the site.

I learned of Command Post via this weblog. What a gem.

It consistently scoops the dinasaur media. I'm beginning to see what you're talking about, Miguel.

I was there the day CP launched. I even wrote a few things for them in the early days. During the Iraq war — during the heat of hostilities, mind you — it regularly beat CNN & FOX News by at least a half hour w/ news reports. Not sure how they did it, but they did. And the added benefit of snippets from Arab & international radio, images from the handful of bloggers in the region (Syria, Jordan, Iran, etc.). It beat CNN to a pulp. I remember sitting w/ my broadband updating every 5 minutes while channel surfing CNN & FOX News. They were always beat by CP.
