Sickness

04.08.2004

I woke up today w/ a fever & wicked flu. Not sure how that happened. I was in good spirits last night & took it quite easy. My watching of School of Rock briefly interrupted by a phone call from Andy. Now I just feel miserable. Dragged myself out of bed to the pharmacy around 5. I'll overdose on assorted medicines, have some chicken ramen, and curl up in bed w/ more DVDs. Has old age caught up w/ me?

This probably means no Copacabana trip for me. Sigh. Was really looking forward to that.

I'm sure my preferred anti-flu solution isn't endorsed by the American Medical Association. But. It works. Essentially, I overdose on everything available at the local pharmacy. Which leads to weird stares in Bolivia, where all medicines are bought from pharmacists. I ask for what different medicines they have — then order two of everything. Take every 8 hours? Nah. Try every 3-4.

School of Rock was by far the cutest movie I have ever seen.
If I had a cold and I was still living in bolivia my grandparents would have me bathing in a tub of mentolatum right about now.

School of Rock cracked me up.

Jack Black was on Letterman not long after the release of the movie, talking about the "rock tradition". He seemed to believe some of the points of view in the movie. You wouldn't think it by listening to Tenacious D's rockin' rythms.

I hope you 'll get well soon.
School of Rock is an awesome movie!

Great choice of movie to cheer you up, I think.

Probably best that you didn't go to Copacabana. The prospect of hoping on a minibus that's heading toward 'el cemetario' when you feel like you're going to die anyway would probably be pretty disturbing.

Thanks for the best wishes. I hate being sick. Fortunately, it happens infrequently.
