Taking a break

04.23.2004

I fly to Lima Sunday. In the meantime, I'm wrapping up a paper on party system differences between Bolivia's east & west, knee deep in OLS (ordinary least squares) regressions, p-values, and all that fun stuff.

The Lima trip's put on by the Fulbright program, a sort of meet & greet affair for regional fundees. I'm just taking it as a vacation. I need a break from La Paz, for so many reasons.

I plan on tuning out of Bolivian politics for a while. Actually, that's impossible. But I won't write about it for a week. Too depressing right now. Too many of my relatives in La Paz think a military coup would be the best thing. Too many of my relatives in Santa Cruz support secession. I want neither. I just don't want to think about it for a while.

Yay, need any help w/ OLS. I am so into it. My new fetish, so to speak, lol. Have fun there, N.

Actually, thanks for the offer. I might email you some doubts I have tomorrow. Specifically, an issue w/ autocorrelation. It's tough doing OLS w/o SAS, STATA, or any other program. Pretty much limited to brute force & what Excel provides.

Sounds heavy... hope Bolivia's okay.
