Randomness

05.12.2004

I've finally gotten around to posting my iTunes library online. For those of you that were interested. It represents about 90% of my CD collection, and all of my mp3s.

Tonight's the first inaugural poker night in La Paz. I hope it's a roaring success — and that I win a few Bs. at the end of the evening.

I usually have short conversations w/ the casera I buy newspapers from daily. She's great, she saves me a copy of La Razón every day, even calls me if I'm running late to make sure I still want her to hold on to her last one.

I could read the paper online, but paper copies are nice. But. Mostly. I get La Razón for the daily inserts. The paper's currently publishing a volume on the history of Bolivia — page by page. You're supposed to collect each page (the cover was given out the first day), take the complete collection to their office, and pay Bs.5 to have them bind it as a regular book. Guess what Novalí's getting for Christmas?

We usually chit chat about the day's headlines, or the weather. Stuff like that. Today, the front page read that Bolivia's women's soccer team crushed Chile 9-1. We both got a kick out of that. Joking about how the men were incapable, and the women had to carry the slack. "Sometimes we have to make ourselves heard," said my casera. So true.

Speaking of which, the municipality of El Alto's hosting a cholita soccer tournament the Sunday of Bolivian Mother's Day.

Finally, J. Edmund saves me from posting on anything Iraq-related by posting his commentary on the recent beheading. As usual, he's right on.

And a favor to ask: The website for O Mundo Café currently ranks pretty low (page 6) on Google. So. If anyone wants to help me w/ a google bomb to raise the ranking. Please just link to the omundocafe.com using the phrase "O Mundo Cafe" — I'd really appreciate it. And, Stephanie, I promise to work on the site over the weekend.

Looking forward to seeing (and subconsciously assessing) the site. ; D

It's got potential.

I'll link regularly (if that'll help)!. I wonder why the mens soccer team never gets such scores, 9-1 is a super goleada, its "capote universitario"*(when you bid the looser pays double).

*"Capote" is a term used when you win leaving your opponent with no score, thats "0", if something is at stake you pay double of that. "Capote Universitario" is when the looser just scores once (pays double too if it was previously agreed the legigitmacy of capote universitario. This is very usual among amateur matches of all kinds of sports among friends and in table soccer at alasitas.

People like that give me hope.

So in order for me to assist in "setting" your google bomb, do I simply need to link to O Mundo on my weblog? Or is there more to it?

Tom (and others):

Yes, all you have to do to build a google bomb is make a working HTML link to omunodocafe.com using the text "O Mundo Cafe" as the link text. Thanks.

I added O Mundo Cafe to my page. As payment for helping building the google bomb I'd like a nice steaming cup of mate if I'm ever down in La Paz.

I stumbled on this website and I am compelled to say that this is the saddest thing I have seen in weeks. To use a parlance of our times, this is very gay. Is this loser actually writing on a website about teaching his girlfriend how to play poker??? Get a fucking life homey. Get out, date more, go drink somewhere, make new friends.

Huh? I wasn't explaining how to play poker to my girlfriend. Did you even read the post? And I think I do have a life. Since. Um. Having a poker night w/ my buddies is part of a social life.
