Going up north

08.06.2004

We're taking a family trip "up north" to the Coates cottage on Pratt Lake (cousins from Arizona & New Jersey will be there). It's my last day w/ my parents; tomorrow I head back to Kalamazoo w/ Annie & Sophie meowing next to me in the rental truck. It's been a good visit back — long enough to be relaxing & fun, not so long that I got bored out of my skull.

Coffee this mornign w/ Mrs. Harrison (my language arts teacher for three years of high school) was a wonderful touch. She was like a surrogate mother to me.

Now I'm doing my last bit of laundry & packing things into boxes, putting them in the garage before loading the truck up Saturday morning. By sometime after 3pm, I should be living at 728 West Lovell Street. Still to buy: bathroom & bedroom linens, kitchen pantry & fridge supplies, a Scandinavian couch & coffee table.

Also, today's Bolivian Independence Day. I've only absentmindedly kept up w/ Bolivian news these two weeks (I'll keep up more once I'm settled in Kzoo). But enough to know that gas exports are a go, the legislative MNR-MIR coalition is back on, and the exchange rate has slipped up to Bs. 7.94.

I forgot to tell you over the phone that I have a gift for you from Israel. Makes me wonder about a gift for you from Dan. hmm. well, I guess we'll just have to see about that.
