The weekend starts

10.08.2004

Today was my friend Dave's birthday, which involved poker & pool. I did well at poker, miserable at pool. I think the pool gods were angry at me. At one point, a ball that clearly fell into a pocket jumped out, and rolled back across the felt. I've missed shots that flirted w/ the pocket before. But never one that was spat out. Sad, sad. Dave shot a good night, though.

WIDR's 20th annual Barking Tuna festival starts this Friday, and I plan to see the first show at Kraftbräu. The lineup includes M. Sord, Pilot Scott Tracy, and Dälek. If you're in Kalamazoo, you should go.

Between then & now, I need to finish my MPSA conference paper proposal (due 10 October). Basically, a closer, more academically rigorous empirical study of election data developed here & here. This time it'll involve OLS regressions, multivariate analysis, stuff like that.
