Samba da luna

10.24.2004

Brazil launched a rocket into outer space yesterday. Making it Latin America's first space-based international power. So suddenly the country's flag makes sense.

The countries that've managed to put something in orbit are (in order): USSR/Russia, the United States, France, Japan, China, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Australia, Italy, India. And, now, Brazil. (Besides independent launches, the European Union members also operate a joint space program.)

I've heard from inside sources that the ONLY reason for the rocket was to finally make sense of their flag. They feel it will be a rallying point for their people.
