Fire Rumsfeld & Ashcroft

11.03.2004

There are rumors — and rumblings among GOP rank & file — suggesting Bush might dump Ashcroft & Rumsfeld, to be replaced by moderates (rumors hint McCain & Giuliani). So. If you want this to happen, email/phone/write your local representative. Both McCain & Giuliani are socially liberal Republicans who're a world of difference from Ashcroft & Rumsfeld. And many GOP rank & file are already thinking along these lines. Let your local Representatives know that you want this, and that you'll remember in 2006, when they're all up for re-election. Or give them suggestions for other names you might prefer. Be polite (it ensures they'll pay attention to you), but let them know. Just a suggestion.

In Kalamazoo: Fred Upton.

You could contact the president directly, but experience shows House Representatives are the most responsive of nationally elected figures, primarily since they're elected from small districts, and up for re-election every two years. You should get in the habit of contacting your local representative regularly on issues that matter to you. They really do pay attention.

McCain: resounding approval. I would very much like to see him in govt. But Giuliani? Ack, I can't stand that goofy schmuck. He worked well for NYC when it was pinched, but I emphatically don't want to see him in a major seat.

Sure, but Giuliani's gotta be better than either Ashcroft or Rumsfeld, no? The rumor's McCain for Rumsfeld, Giuliani for Ashcroft.

The one who really needs to be fired is the "shadow president", Chaney. It seems to me, that guy makes half of the decisions in the White House and most of the time, he's got his Co. in mind.
