In other good news

03.09.2005

Seems two of my favorite bands have upcoming new CDs. Spain's La Monja Enana's finishing an LP after a three years hiatus. Now, if only they ship to the US as imports (my biggest letdown over the holidays was scouring Barcelona record stores unable to find a single out-of-stock LME album).

And. And. And. Ivy released a new album (In The Clear). You've no idea how happy this makes me. You've probably heard Ivy numerous times, even if you've not heard of them. But Spin once declared Apartment Life (their second album) one of the best crafted pop albums of all time. Now that the baby's grown up, I hope they get to touring.

Ivy is touring, there's already been a DC date announced. I have Apartment Life somewhere, maybe I should go dig it out.

Yeah, I saw that. But still only some early bookings. I hope they come to Chicago or somewhere close to me.

Just checked them out. I like. Very much. Thanks.

Are you familiar w/Luna? They recently disbanded (punny), but their albums are pretty good. Ivy reminds me of Luna.

Oh, yeah. Be sure you check out "Guestroom", even though it's all all-covers album. But because it's mostly obscure 80s new wave pop gems, it's worth it. And some of the songs on that are perhaps the best pop productions ever. Ivy's version of "Be My Baby" should be played at every wedding. Ever.

And Luna's great. Though I have very little of their stuff. Do you also like Yo La Tengo?

Miguel, I think you'd like Versus and/or the Delgados. Poppy, but not too sugary sweet poppy.
