Apple Store

04.07.2005

Yes, it's dorky. But I'm enjoying my long-delayed first visit to an Apple Store. Now I'm just playing w/ the toys, oohing & aahing.

Took a break from the conference for an afternoon of shopping w/ K8. I hate brick & mortar shopping, it's so tedious. Mostly because I'm so picky. Partly because new fashions are so boringly hip.

The firs day of the conference was good. Moataz wasn't at his panel (he said he might not make it), but the rest of the papers on democracy in the Islamic world were interesting. The following panel, on popular attidudes towards democracy in Latin America was good, too.

I'm taking the rest of the afternoon to relax, go over my presentation (if I've a chance), then meet Vanesa for drinks.

Middle Eastern PSCI scholarship is exciting these days. Funny that you mention Moataz - I was visitin his CMU website just yesterday.

What's "brick and morter" shopping? Hell, what's shopping? I haven't purchased clothes in, literally, years. Not much into new flashy stuff. Give me cargo pants and tee shirts, shorts and polo shirts, or monkey suits, anyday.

Good luck w/presentation.

I recently moved from Kansas City to the Triangle area in North Carolina and recently discovered that there's an Apple Store very close by. I haven't been yet, but as a soon to be PC-to-Mac convert I'm not sure how long I can keep myself from stepping into that store. If it wasn't for having to save for a wedding I think I'd already own a Powerbook. As it is, the Powerbook's #2 on my post-wedding gadget wishlist (#1 is a digital SLR, unless I break down and visit the Apple store :) )

I actually dislike "brick & mortar" shopping. It's so tedious, especially since it requires physically walking from place to place looking for items. I'd rather buy most of my stuff online. I can get as much shopping done online in 30 mins as an entire afternoon going from store to store.
