I'm presenting my MPSA paper (yet again) this Thursday. If you're interested in the kind of stuff I do "for a living" (analyzing election data, talking about Bolivia, etc). Noon, 3301 Friedmann Hall (Political Science Library), free. You can eat while I talk, then ask me questions.

Also, while I was in Chicago, Bolivia's parliament approved prefect elections for 12 August 2005. Bolivians will elect their department prefect (governor) directly (currently they're appointed by the president) for the first time. A big step forward, I think. Now, political parties are scrambling to find candidates. Nevertheless, indigenous groups in Potosí oppose the election of prefects before a constituent assembly; I'm curious how widespread this opposition becomes.
