Fandango

I'm almost done w/ organizing the new apartment. Pictures forthcoming. It's also a bit sad. See, this'll be my last apartment in Kalamazoo. Come Fall 2006, I'll be living God-knows-where teaching at God-knows-what-college. I plan to enjoy my last year here, my time w/ a gorgeous apartment, and one last round of Kalamazoo seasons.

My mentor & dissertation advisor took me out to dinner tonight (Fandango, Kzoo's new tapas place) to celebrate my writing grant. It's always fun to catch up w/ her, share anecdotes, and swap advice (I'm mostly on the receiving end) on various things. Topics covered included: how to prepare for job applications, why a Daschund shouldn't sit up, dating advice, Amtrak v. Trenitalia, and what kid of colleges I'd like to teach at.

Then off to watch yet another amazing episode of The Shield. Also, Bill added to my previous analogy: If Vic Mackey is Batman, Captain Rawling is Commissioner Gordon. Think about it.

So you will have the PHD for sure next April? What kind of college do you want to work at? I have some small connections at the Harvard of Michigan (What Albion likes to call itself) that is in need of some PoliSci faculty.
