Digital life update

10.12.2005

I have a new cell phone. I figured I'd pounce on the discontinued Samsung SPH-i500 while they were still in stock & going cheap. So long Treo, hello Samsung w/ Palm OS. Sadly, I can't get email to work. Happily, the web browser is faster/better. But if I can't figure out how to do email, I'll cancel the web package (save $15/mo) & just stick to a phone.

Why the step back in technology? I'm a big fan of the Palm OS, and the new PDA phones are using Windoze, instead. Boo! Hiss! Boo! But the Samsung's also tiny, clamshell, solid, has two batteries, and a Graffiti writing pad (the Treo, alas, didn't). So far, I'm happy.

On a sad note, however, Yoshi is dead. My little HP-made iPod is no more, having crashed a few hours ago. And on the day Apple announced a new version of iTunes, no less. Boo! Hiss! Boo!

What happened to the Treo? Did it fall apart, as most phones do after a couple of years? I don't think I am getting a Treo or Blackberry, my request from work was rejected. But I did manage to retrieve my email from my current cell phone.

The Treo still works fine, but it's been banged up a bit. It's not built to be all that sturdy, and it was more machine than I needed. I figure I can maybe sell it on eBay quickly, and break even.

I might be interested in the Treo... if I can get it to work with Verizon... but you are with Sprint right? Call Apple about the iPod. Is it more then a year old? Usually they are easily fixable.
