in la paz

right now i am in downtown la paz, using an internet cafe. so i dont know how to use all of this kayboard, but want to jot down a short entry before we leave for the city of tarija. right now we are in the middle of downtown and a political demonstration with shots being fired - in the air - is going on.
we have had several good days here visiting with danielĀ“s cousins and uncle. his aunt passed away and we arrived in time for the funeral and have been remembering good times with them. daniel had his picture taken with his uncle in the exact park where about 50 years ago he posed with him as a little boy. we will have both pictures posted if we can next post. funerals here in la paz are quite different from those in santa cruz and ofcourse much different than in the states. we celebrated 34 years of marriage here in la paz with an excursion to some of the outposts of the area. i am always amazed and impressed with the mountains, caverns, here. this huge city is nestled in one huge cavern much like the grand canyon in many ways. the sites are awesome. the altitute ... 14,000 feet above sea level... a bit much for me, but we are surviving . we write again when we get home.

  • I would love to see those photos. I hope you got my other emails and I love to know the Centellas mom is blogging from a coffee shop in La Paz! Who said you were low-tech.
