Arica

I went to Chile for a few days; I spent most of my time recovering from really bad sunburn.  The first thing I once I got to Chile was walk to the beach.  I got there, toke my shirt off, and laid in the sand.  Before I knew it, 4 hours had passed and I was completely red.  I was pretty bad for a couple of weeks.

Arica is part of the land that Chile took from Peru during the Pacific war (1879-83).   Bolivia also lost Iqueque to Chile during this war.

There wasn’t too much to do in Arica, but from here you can start to trek down the coast of Chile all the way to Santiago.
