Weather

... The temperature is 83F today in Miami, FL .... not to shabby ... although they predict rain for Sat and Sun. :(
For my Mom

My mom is a wonderful person, and today I am making a new promise, just for her.

As of today, I will always spell/grammar check all of my blogs before I post them. See, my mom is an awesome Language Arts teacher that I even had the pleasure of being her student for one semester in 8th grade. Unfortunately being the son to a L.A. teacher and a brother (Miguel) to great writer doesn't mean I will turn out the same. But she has reason, I am about to graduate from a 4yr university and it probably would help if I learn to use there, their and they're correctly.

I was wrong

In my last post I said that having no cellphone for a day is the best thing since canned food. I was wrong.. it's actually finding that the Backup DSL connection I have at work is much more reliable and unrestricted then our frame line. Yes, yes... I know the tech side of me is comming out. But it's true... I can telnet, FTP, and get my hotmail. Why is this so exciting.... well because our frame line is down for maintenance for about 4 hrs ... and I can still sure the web! Jess if your reading this, try to stay on your chair, don't roll off your chair laughing. I'm celebrating my tech side... last week at our Jackson office , I was greating 4 times as " Hey , you must be the computer guy" I prefer tech savey.

This is making out to be a great day .... I have a great friend that lent me thier car ... it feels good to use a parking space at work again. Thanks friend! I also only have one class, it's short, fun and I don't have an exam in it for a week. Tonight I don't have any plans, so I can study in peace. Oh yea, and at work , I'm been using my time wisely , surfing the web and looking at possible apartments in Philadelphia for when I move out there in August! That's right, I will graudate, I will move!

I'm still a bit nervous about all the classes that I will be taking next semester. I know a lot of students take 19credits but they don't work or they are not as involved in ext. Curri. stuff. I'm def going to have to cut that stuff out. I'm burned out anyways. It's been a great couple of yrs. being really active on campus. I still wish that my High School friends would have come out to some events. It's obvious to me that many of them will never understand things about mine and other cultures. :( We've worked so hard to reach out to other communities and poeple. We worked for free wanting only one thing in return. People to enjoy our culture. I gotta give props to Brett, thanks man, I know you've always been there to support. It's so hard to give up, I know that I'm not giving it up. I'll always support, but the meetings will all have to go. I need every extra hour in my week. I really try not to waste time. This semester I have only been to 3 parties, and I try not to go out more then once a week. I need to work on my grades, nothing should come before that. OK, well I better get back to work. Ciao!

Best thing to happen since canned food

Today I ran out of the apartment with Wair and Bobby, I was bumming a ride off them. Once we pulled out of the driveway on were on our way to class I noticed I didn't bring my cellphone..... OH MY GOODNESS! I felt so weak... helpless..... But it has been 8.5 hrs since I have seen my little friend and I don't miss it at all. It's great. Don't get me wrong, the first thing I will do when I get home is check my phone.. but for now ... I'm gonna enjoy my frappuccino and time in silence. :)

3 days late

I didn't post about my weekend yet. I went to Grand Rapids to have dinner with my brother. Soloumeh and I drove down and met Sam and Heather. We went to San Chez for tappas. It was awesome, ... I got Paella! Tell me about it! I just wanted to send a thanks to Sam. I had a great time. The food was awesome, conversation was great and the ladies were sparkeling.

Anywho, right now I am in the Multicutural Business Program 4th floor of Epply .. waiting for class. My eyes hurt .... I haven't seen any of my books in a while. It feels like years since I've studied. ... I feel ... tired... stressed and overwhelmed.!!! ok off to class!

Randomness

Ok, I talked to my professor and everything is ok. I didn't miss a quiz nor Homework assignments. They were just for practice. :) Since I am on the subject of school. ... I have to talk about my MSC 317 prof. .. he teaches Statistics II. He is so sarcastic and like to belittle his students. Here he is lecturing to our class:

" Today you should recognize this Hypothesis test since you had it in Statistics I, but I'm sure you won't so I will go over it again , and I'm sure you won't understand it aswell, but that's ok. I'll go into details to make it easier to understand. But remember .. you won't understand it , nor remember it."

Man, I get so mad listening to him, .. . the funny thing is that I no longer want to fall asleep in his class. I get so mad listening to him that it keeps me awake. Hey! At least I am awake and taking notes!

I have a quiz in his class on Firday.... we'll see how it goes.

Oh yea, I need to send a reminder out. THis weekend in Sweetest day. Yea, I know ... probably wondering what is Sweetest day. Probably Somebody in the Mid-West that decided Valentine's day was not enough so they decided to add another one .. and not include the West or East coast. I don't get it. So what are my big plans... ah ... people want to know. I'm not sure, I might have a date, and then I might just see someone I am seeing?!?!? Confused? Yea me too. Relationships are funny, and even more confusing. All I know is that I am going to get a lot of studying done. :) How exciting!
Quiz? Hw set 2?

I am finally feeling better today ,,,... I was down and out with not the Flue the last couple of days. So while on campus I was checking my email , and I saw 2 from my econ 340 proff... mentioning anwsers to Homework set 2 and preparing for our quiz. One problem... I never knew about homework set 1, let alone homework set 2 or a quiz. On the Syllabus it says that the class is 60% on tow midterms and 40 % on final. So now I am freaking out. Did I miss things... did I really sleep that often in class to miss out on that much information! I'm gonna stop by office hours today to see if I did... . I feel like a big idiot.

On a brighter note, tonight for our NAHBS (Native American and Hispanic Business Students) meeting we are having BW3 wings! My mouth is already salavating, Mr. Pavlov has done it again.

La Paz?

I don't write about politics on my weblog, and I won't start today. It's not that I'm not able to hold an arguement or defend my opinoins. It's because my weblog isn't geared towarsd that. But things are happening in Bolivia and I very concerned. My brother Miguel is a Fullbright scholar and is doing his dissertation in Bolivia and is in the middle of everything. Currently Bolivia in a a state of siege. People can't get food, gas and many shops/businesses are closed. Check out the BBC reports or if you want a close up and in the action report. read my brother's weblog. www.centellas.org/miguel

The Flu?

Monday I came home from work happy. I got a flu shot, it was free and almost promeses that you will not get the flu. A flu nurse travels to offices offering flu shots to small offices. I guess it's because when on e person in a office gets sick, everybody does. So why am I completely sick, with a fever, head ache, stomach ache and heavy sweats. At least it isn't the flu! Ok, so maybe it isn't the flu .. .. but I am still sick .... and why is it that it's 50 degrees outside and my roommates decide to turn the HEAT OFF. I know we are all trying to save money , but a brother is freezing to death!

I;m on campus now, trying to feel better, updating the NAHBS treasurer book... all I wanna do is go home, sleep and eat some soup. :)

Great Weekend

This weekend was great. Starting out on Friday, Allison and I drove to Saginaw, to teach Salsa, Merengue and Bachata at my mom's high school. The kids seemed to really like the program and I even caught some teachers trying to dance aswell. This was a good warm up for Saturday night at Playa's Club since they had a live Salsa band. The music was hot, and I got a chance to try out some new moves. Saloumeh, my new dance partner really tore it up. I have to give major props to women, dancing in those high heels. I don't know how you do it. Friday we also went bowling. I really like bowling, I'm not to good at it but it's a awesome game. Congrats to Hermes for getting the highest score.

Allison and I at SASA

Ben .... can you see the outline ...

The bros looking ruff

Saloumeh and I at the gardens

Sunday, we all slept in - Ben, Cibao and Jario needed to recover.

Sunday, I also did something I've always wanted to do at MSU. Saloumeh and I went to the MSU gardens. There is nothing better than the warm sun cutting through the cold fall air ... We played a few games of chess while catching some rays and laying in the grass.

I'm planing on going to Grand Rapids this weekend to see my bro. I already looked at Grey Hound. 30 dollars round trip. Not bad!

Running around .. with no car

Today was a true test of the no-car strategy. I survived ... got a ride to school at 8am ... (8:30 class) worked great . Thanks Marlene and Ben. 9:50am ... I woke up to my class leaving ... oppss... anywho, walked out of the Natural Science Bldg. and got a ride to the University Store Warehouse for my class flield trip from Amy. Thank a bunch, I defenitly would not have made it on time.

So I am still on campus, and will be here til about 12am... about a 16 hr day on campus! 4 classes, 2 professor meetings, one presentation for NAHBS at the CRU meeting, treasurer deposits for NAHBS, Paper work for PhiA, occasional stops at computer labs- needed to check work and personal email. The icing, studying for exams, and doing my recitation homework! :) I did it... well, almost, we'll see , I have 5.5 hrs left. Oh yea, I also made it to the bank to pay off my car loan... for the car that I no longer can drive... but I have the title!! In my own name! To bad I am handing it over to a junk yard that is going to pay me 1/16 of what I actually paid for my car! Oh well, live and learn. Ok, I gotta run! CIAO!

Pictures Pictures!

This weekend it finally sank in that I no longer have a car. So here are some pictures of the carnage.

We also marched in the homecoming parade with Pi Alpha Phi, the oldest Asian Interest Fraternity. I was super cold and rainy. LUckily I didn't have a coat or hat.

The End of Bad Luck

The end of Bad luck .. some of you may wonder what I am talking about. Well today , my car was laid to rest. After almost 2yrs with Andres, my little solder gave it's life to save my own? Wondering what this means? Well, today I recieved a ticket for failing to yeild at a stop. I did stop , but when i went a speeding car plowed into the drivers side of my car ... pushing my car back several feet and exploding the window into my face. Luckily no one was hurt .. .. except my car that is now officially totaled. The really bad news! I do not have collision isurance. What does that mean. ... no car for Andres ... and I still am paying on the car loan! That's the big rub!

At least no one got hurt, I just missed an exam, will now be paying for a car I do not own , and will be taking th bus for the next year til I graduate! Oh well. ...

I'll put the pics of tomorrow, people were amazed to see me climb out of my car .. .. I got busted real bad.
