Black Belt... Karate Chops? ... More like mental block

So you want to know what I do ... you can't handle it ... you can't handle what I do ... because I'm a six sigma black belt, in training. Why you can't handle it? Well becuase I'm only in day one of training and there is a good chance that I will die of exessive lecturing and lack of interest. Well at least I only have 19 more days to go. So what is it that I will be doing for the next year and a half. Basically put ... reducing the number of manufacturing defects. If we produce 1,000,000 plastic pellets, my job is to ensure we only have 4 defects out of all those 1,000,000 pellets. No karate, just lots of statistics and project management. If you need more info ... check the below book out written by our corporate six sigma champion Don Linsenmann.

... not the final ... final

About two years ago, I posted about my last exam of school, I even posted an image of the test for all to behold .. fast forward two years in the future...

Today, I turned in two more exams ... I gues I was wrong. As I round the 2nd half of my first year of my master's I am learning that I have many more exams to complete and stress about. I'm really not that good at school. I do like to read, I enjoy solving problems and I even take notes. Don't get me wrong, I get decent to good grades, but I'm just not that person who gets A's for doing the minimun. I work hard for my B's and occasional A. I like the academic world, at times I even mention how I would love to be a professor. But even though I get take home exams, I struggle and worry about the results and my grades. It would be great to have no exams ... just lecturing and learning...

Halloween

October is a really cool month; the weather is perfect for playing soccer, leaves start to fall and change colors and my favorite movie comes back into viewing seaons, "The nightmare before Christmas". Somehow this movie became a staple of the centellas household and everysince the movie was released on VHS (I know .. i know .. ) I watch it every year, several times around the holiday season. So if you are going out to a pumpkin patch, on the way home stop by your local video rental store and pick up a copy of my favorite film.

Hobbit Foot

Today's my fourth day of hobbit foot syndrome. What is this you ask. Well, it's when you roll your foot over a soccer ball, sprain your foot (2nd degree) and let the good times swell your foot to the size of a middle aged, slightly overweight hobbit's foot. At least I'm working from home. Normally a sprain wouldn't keep me away from going into the office, even in these days of SOHO (Small Office/Home Office), I like to be in the office to interact with co-workers, but since our newly remodeled office building has no elevator and I work on the second floor ... it's makes it hard to into work. So odd that such a safety concerned company would not have elevators.

Anywho, aside from that, all is well. I start my new job next week, Hispanic Heritage month ends and I turn in my two mid-term exams. This weekend if going to be busy and fast.
