Keli's Art

Tonight is going to be exciting. My good friend Keli Tolley , I should spell it Kelly since she always spells my name wrong, has her first Art exhibit tonight. Last year Keli went on a study aboard, to Europe.... Italy, England... all over. Anyhow, she took some amazing photographs, and she was selected to hold an exhibit at MSU's fine Kresgie Art Museum. Major congrats. Keli and I were actually roommate’s last yr, the good ole 624. I left early for my internship, she left early to study abroad. Although we only lived together for 1 semester, it was still enough time to teach my young apprentice, and mold her into a great artist. ;)

In case you are in East Lansing: 7-9pm at the Kresgie Art Musem, tonight is the closing reception.

Carnival

Carnival is about to start, Miguel is in Tarija, ... one of the two department's of Bolivia that I didn't visit. I'm sure it will be awesome. I'm in Michigan State's Multicultural room, listening to a group of students that are downloading Brasilian music. They are going to perform a Brazilian carnival at this year's Latin Explosion. Kinda neet, but I just think it's funny that most of the students have never been to a carnival, nor know what it really is... I can't be to critical. I'm not a big carnival expert myself, I've only been to one. 2 yrs ago I was in Santa Cruz and Samiapata for the crazy week of drinking and music, my first carnival. LOL, Mom don't worry, I didn't get crazy, I actually wimped out most of the time. To much drinking ... I'm not a big fan of Ducal beer, let alone warm Ducal beer at 10am in the morning. :)

Fun in the Snow

My brother Sam just posted some pictures of him snowboarding ... something that he's always wanted to do ... . for some reason it just made me laugh. I remember the Centellas's first winter, I was only 5, but snow must have magical powers. I can remeber all the fun and cold times we had. I remember getting pulled in the Jameson court by my grandfather, in a sled! A sled! We had just come from a tropical country and the first thing we ended up doing in the US was building snow forts, throwing snow balls, wanting to shovel snow and drink hot chocolate. :)

I remember every winter, Hoyt Park would be flooded in order to make one of the best Outdoor Ice Skating rinks in the U.S. We would skate for hours on our dulled handme down iceskates. I swear I was the fastest kid out there! (Even tho we had figure skates and all the other boys had hocket skates! HA HA HA, we didn't know the difference). I remember twirling my lil'sister around as Mom sat in the Blue station wagon and watched. We would sometimes get a five dollar bill, and race off to the warming house for hot chocolate and popcorn. Somedays we would head to the snow hill ... we could sled for hours in our WWII style tin ice shields ;) Remember those!

So Sam is continuing the legacy.... while the rest of us Centellas's decide to refute Michigan and it's weather, swear at the cold and run inside as quickly as possible. Sam remembers the fancination of Michigan Winter. .... maybe I would enjoy winter if I did the same. . :) Hope you had fun Sam ... and I that you're not to sore today.

CEO's and Interns

I met with my group for MSC 401 today. Procurement and Sourcing Strategies. Adam, who I've know since my first year at MSU is in my group. He's a great guy, although we haven't really hung out much, he's just one of those guys you know you can trust. My whole group is actually really interesting. There are 4 of us, all seem really nice. It's just that we have such different backgrounds. They are Son's of CEO's, friends to VP's and high executives. I guess I've forgotten how many people that study business at MSU have the great connections that I could only dream of. Not that I want a handme down, but visibility is very important. I can't imagine living and hanging out with top executives. I'm not trying to sound like I am idolizing executives... I'm just trying to say that thier social circle is very different from mine. Should prove interesting.

Anyways, we should be able to produce a great project, everyone seems to have such good experience.

Tonight is Phiota Films: The Arturo Sandoval Story. Should be awesome! :) Thanks mom for the great idea.

I'm studying ... so should you!

Still on campus, ... my daily routine begins with me coming to cmapus around 10am (after working 8 - 10) and staying til 1am.. :) But it's not bad, I see friends, studying, see saloumeh, write emails, maybe even eat! I like having a buy schedule, and it's true. This isn't one of those affirmations to make me feel better about what I am doing. I need to let you all know. reason? Well, I was at work .. kinda late and I ran into some one from work. ... work people , think that I am this super computer geek. I mean, i don't even own a computer (At least not right now, due to unforseen theivery). I'm tech sheek, not geek. ... ok so back to my work story. She asked me, "So how are things? What is your shedule like" ... I told her, well really long, I usually wake up early and then stay up late... her reply " Sounds like a sad existence ... staying up all night chatting on the web .. hooked to the computer" . This made me laugh my ass off. My reply " I don't go home and chat til 1am! I'm at school in class, going to meetings, chatting with friends, seeing my girlfriend, studying ... etc" I just think it's funny that people assume that all I do is stick my head in a computer. speaking of that... better run!
Feb

I just don't feel like writing a title. OK, updates updates. I have wheels! My parents have decided to lend me their car for a while... longer then anticipated! This is great. Now I can stay on campus til 1am and not have to call around, bumming rides off friends comming home from the bar....

So, now that I have wheels .. it's great. I know I was really trying to get used to not having a car. But Michigan is not the ... well Lansing, is not the best place to try this out. So now, I am driving. Listening to 100.7 (Country)

In class this week, we have been reading and discussing European Colonialism. Which is quite interesting. The only problem is that ,... I feel sad that I am only now leanring this. This seems to be so crucial to understanding how our present day society (Not only U.s)... global society functions and is structured. Now, don't get me wrong, I consider myself to be a fairly read individual. I've just never gone into much depth on of these topics.

... ... So far, this is wk 4 of the no text book policy. And how is it going .. you all ask. Very well. Only for ... ok, ... opppss... there is a class starting .. in here.. I have to run... wow! This has never phappeneed.. ciao
